DEPOSITS, BOOKINGS AND CANCELLATIONS
IS A DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO PLACE AN ORDER?
Yes, I require a non-refundable 50% deposit to book your order and the balance is due a week prior to the event, you will receive a reminder via email. Please communicate with me, if you cannot pay the balance a week prior, I will work with you.
If your cake is more than 2 weeks out - you may pay the full balance at the time of order and receive a 5% discount on your cake price.
Cake Orders due within 2 weeks require full payment.
I require cakes to be booked at least 3 weeks or more in advance.
WHY IS IT NON-REFUNDABLE?
Because remember when I told you I BOOK UP OFTEN?.. Well, there would be NO WAY for me to go back and get all of the customers I said NO to, to backfill YUR SPOT if you decide to cancel your order. Your deposits ensure availability FOR YOU and I manage my entire production schedule based on YOUR ORDER once you book it.
BOOKING
After we discuss the details of your event and decide on the cake design you'd like if you are interested in booking and would like to proceed, I would require a non-refundable 50% deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance must be paid in full one week prior to your event. NO EXCEPTIONS. I will send a reminder email to you prior to and 1 day after the due date. Please take note, If the balance is not paid in full one week prior, the order will be canceled and your deposit forfeited. The balance and deposit are both NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE, meaning you can NOT cancel one date and then change it to another without first discussing it with me first.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept all credit cards and cash only. For your protection, I do NOT process credit card orders over the phone,. However, for your convenience, I will email you an invoice to pay online through Square.
There is a convenience fee of $2.00 added to all Cashapp, or Venmo payments.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is due upon order placement. Balance is due in full one week prior to the event. If the order is not picked up on the day of delivery, or delivery is denied, the client is still responsible for the full balance of the order. I will make every attempt to contact you in the event of a missed pickup or denied delivery. If a cancellation is made less than 7 days prior to your event, the balance is still due in full. Please keep in mind that after you book an order, I decline other orders, If you then cancel, it could results in hundreds of dollars lost, because I made accommodations for your order.
IN THE EVENT OF CANCELLATION:
- All requests for cancellation must be made in writing, email or text preferred.
- If cancellation is received, your deposit will not be refundable.
- If a cancellation is received less than one week prior to the promised delivery/pickup date, the full balance is still the client's responsibility.
REFUND POLICY
I DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON INCLUDING:
- Cancellations after the deposit has been paid, includes events that have been canceled
- Disagreement on taste - All my cakes are taste-tested regularly, and I can guarantee their freshness and taste. You may read reviews from previous customers to view their satisfaction before ordering.
- Final design outcome - I will communicate with you as much as needed during the design process to ensure we are in agreement.
- Damage incurred to cakes you pick up. Transported cakes should sit secured on a stable, flat surface, away from any heat source. Drive cautiously, no sudden stops or turns, and beware of train tracks and potholes.
- Damage incurred to the cake before, after, or during the event. Keep your cakes away from heat sources, curious little fingers, or hungry pets!
- Running out of cake. I use the industry-standard cake servings of 1" wide by 2" deep, used by caterers and reception venues as a guideline for my servings quote. If you plan to serve larger slices, you may want to order a larger cake - or add cupcakes.
DELIVERY / SHIPPING?
DO YOU DELIVER?
Yes, I deliver within 60 miles of the bakery ( I service Sacramento County, Yolo County, and other surrounding areas). The price of delivery is based on location and is $1.00 per mile Roundtrip.
DO YOU SHIP YOUR CAKES?
The short answer is no, I do not ship cakes, for many reasons, but mainly because I can't GUARANTEE it would make it to you in one piece, no matter how well it's packed. HOWEVER, I have successfully shipped a cake the next day to LA county - and if a customer REALLY WANTS a Cake Jewel Designed cake, I will do my very best to accommodate the request, the customer accepts all responsibility for shipping and damage to the cake.
TASTINGS & ORDERING
HOW MUCH ARE CAKE TASTINGS, AND WHAT DO THEY ENTAIL?
I charge $25 per couple for tastings, but when you book your order with me, the $25 gets applied toward the order. I recommend that you bring in any pictures, invitations, etc., that may help us come up with something perfect for your event. You can choose up to 3 flavors for your tasting, and I will send you home with some cupcakes as well.
*Tastings are by appointment only, and for parties of 100 or more, so give me a call about the event and to check the availability. We will meet either at my home cake studio in Rancho Cordova or at a location we both agree on.
HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER OR REQUEST A QUOTE?
There are 3 ways to order! You may call, email me at customcakes@cakejewel.com or complete the QUOTE REQUEST FORM! Either way, I'll need ALL the details regarding your event in order to provide you with a quote. (Date, Time, Theme, colors, flavors, amount of servings needed, and ideas or pictures you have for reference).
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO GET BACK TO ME?
I will review your submission and get back to you within 24 - 72 hours. If you need faster service, you may give me a call M-Sat from 10 am-6:30 PM at 916-296-0388 but keep in mind, that I do not give quotes over the phone because each cake is unique and there are no set prices except for the cakes you see in the gallery. I am closed on Sundays.
DO YOU HAVE A RETAIL STORE WHERE I CAN WALK IN AND VIEW YOUR WORK?

HOW EARLY SHOULD I PLACE MY ORDER?
A cake order should be placed as soon as you have finalized all details of your event ( colors, theme, design, amount of servings, etc.) since I usually book a few weeks (or sometimes months) in advance, I do encourage early ordering. (4-6 weeks advance notice is recommended, but I'm happy to fit you in whenever my schedule permits).
4-6 WEEKS!? ARE YOU CRAZY!?
Trust me, I am in business to help serve as many customers as I can. HOWEVER, I AM HUMAN, and there are only so many hours in a day. I specialize in over-the-top EDIBLE ART! So generally speaking, people who book me are usually planning parties or vents well ahead of time! (NOT at the last minute).
I love you dear future customer - and would be HONORED to create a cake for you. But don't be upset with me if you decide to wait until the last minute, or want just a "SIMPLE CAKE" and then I'm booked. I take all the custom orders I can fit into my production schedule. If I'm booked, it simply means other people DID NOT wait until the last minute!
DONATIONS REQUEST POLICY
I am happy to be a SWEET part of the community! It is my pleasure to donate products to help charitable organizations wherever I can for a great cause. Donation requests can be submitted via email to customcakes@cakejewel.com. Please include a letter explaining what charity you present, what the cake or cupcakes will be used for, and your non-profit tax ID number. Please understand that I am unable to fulfill ALL requests, but will do my best to help. Please give me as much advance notice as possible.
